The impact of the internet and social media has permeated every aspect of our lives including socially. For example, when we needed to find out about a subject we would physically walk to the library and compile the information we needed.

Today, we simply get on our laptops or smart phones and in a matter of seconds the information is there–right in front of our eyes! It is truly amazing how far we have gotten with our technology for good and for bad. There is simply too many positives in how the internet has enriched our lives. However, the internet has also given us the easier choice in acquiring knowledge and even friendship. And I don’t mean in a good way.

The Human Touch!

The human touch is very important–it is when we meet people. To sit and talk; to laugh and share stories. To be present physically, mentally and spiritually and to enjoy the moment. Meeting someone for some coffee doesn’t seem like a big thing to do, but it offers endless amounts of positivity, possibilities and personal growth.

Humans coming together to be human!

And with social media, texting and video calling we sometimes don’t bother to meet. And no I don’t mean a friend that lives far away (social media is an awesome communication tool when it comes to senerios like this.) I mean your friend up the street. We need to start becoming more aware that social media can take us so far. Sharing funny images sometimes is nice–how about picking up the phone and planning a dinner date with a friend?

Take time to Breathe

Find ways to meet even if your schedule is tight. Take time to breathe, to look outside and to relax your eyes from the phone screen. People are waiting for your invitation without knowing it! The human touch shouldn’t be replaced with your phone. It can’t be. You need to reclaim your time by going out and discovering others. That the world is much bigger and multi dimensional than what Google or Facebook make it.

It isn’t all about speed and instant results; it’s patience and savoring the moment and those moments happen you meet people face-to-face!
